Featuring Clyde Stubblefield on drums!

Frank GraceFrank Grace has been thrilling blues fans, with his own unique brand of explosive blues nationwide and in Europe, for well over the last decade. Now currently based in Madison, Wisconsin, Frank's searing yet soulful approach to the blues has earned him the opportunity to share the stage with some elite company. Great artists such as The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Susan Tedeschi, Ronnie Earl, Bobby Bland, Dr. John, Little Charlie, Pinetop Perkins, Lucky Peterson, Big Jack Johnson, Debbie Davies, Bob Margolin and the late great Johnny Copeland to name only a few. Frank was also privileged to tour recently with vocalists "Sista Monica" Parker and Kim Lembo & Blue Heat. The tour with Kim took them to Paris, France, where they recently recorded the live "Paris Burning!" CD on Blue Wave Records.

Since the release of his own cd "Witness," it is clear that Frank Grace has truly arrived. Traditional blues, shuffle, jump blues, funk, latin, jazz-- it's all there. All these influences that Frank has absorbed from the masters, are evident in this dynamic guitarist's performances and recordings.

Clyde Stubblefield may be the most sampled drummer in history. It is Stubblefield who is known as "The Funky Drummer", the drummer who backed up James Brown during his most funky phase of his career. In a version of "Give It Up Or Turnit A Loose" where James says "clap your hands/stomp your feet", he then calls out a proud "CLYDE!" and Mr. Stubblefield goes nuts. This is followed by a nice "Bootsy!" (as in Bootsy Collins, later of P-Funk game). In an issue of Rolling Stone a few years ago, a reporter managed to track down Clyde Stubblefield in upstate New York, where he's playing in bar bands. He was told that his drum work from the late 60's was being sampled by everyone from Public Enemy to Eric B. & Rakim to Sinead O'Connor. He was quite shocked, yet honored that anyone would remember him for his musicianship. No word on if he was being compensated, because if James Brown is getting his, let's hope Stubblefield the drummer is getting some too, for it is that identifiable beat from "The Funky Drummer" that pretty much made The Godfather Of Soul a household name again.
